ABOUT THE AAJGT

Learn about our mission, history and staff.

Our Mission

The Athens Area Junior Golf Tour’s (AAJGT) mission is to grow junior golf in the Greater Athens and surrounding areas by providing boys and girls aged 7-18 and of all skill levels, the opportunity to discover the game; enhance and refine their skills; and advance to the competitive level of school-based competition and beyond. Our vision and commitment is to conduct professionally-run Junior tournaments that are affordable and convenient; and played on excellent courses that are always close to home. Our tour offers a top-notch experience that consistently exceeds our players’, parents’, and partners’ expectations.

Founded in 2012 and based in the Athens-area of northeast Georgia, the AAJGT conducts one and two day events with Spring, Summer and Fall series tournaments that are played on Saturdays and/or Sundays so that family and friends can be involved.

Juniors play from tees with yardages that are suitable to their age. Younger age divisions play with a modified Stableford scoring system to enhance the pace of play. The older divisions play traditional stroke play to help develop their games for high school and college golf, with 2-day events ranked on Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Finally, our juniors will learn the proper rules and etiquette, practice good sportsmanship and respect for opponents, and acquire the positive values associated with the great game of golf.

          Talk of The Tour

          • "I know if it were not for the AAJGT, Will wouldn't be where he is today. And for that, we are ever grateful.”

            Will Kahlstorf
          • “It has been a great experience playing on the Athens Area Junior Golf Tour. They provided me with so many opportunities to work on my golf game, and to improve and learn from every tournament. This has been an enormous help with my golf game, and has helped me reach my goal of playing golf in college. I enjoy getting to play on so many different golf courses in my area as well, but I don’t have to drive very far to get to them. Both the staff and the players were such a joy to have the opportunity to get to know, and I have grown friendships that I will always have.”

            Morgan Rylee
          • "Athens Area Junior Golf Tour has provided me the opportunity to play in multiple competitive rounds throughout my high school career. This has allowed me to gain tournament experience that has helped me continue my game to the college level. I don’t think I would have been able to go play at North Georgia without the AAJGT."

            Grant Crowell
          • "What's great about the AAJGT is that you practice and play at your own pace. You are in charge of making your own schedule."
